WHETHER a person is planning to build, renovate or put the finishing touches on the backyard, the annual Herald Home Show has something for everyone this year.

The show opens today and will run until Sunday at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

It is the largest home show outside a capital city in the country, with about 500 companies participating in more than 300 stalls.

Show organiser Phil Collins said there would be a huge range of services and products to cater for every part of the home.

"I like to say that it covers everything from ground level to rooftop and everything in between," he said.

"For people looking at renovating or building it's a one-stop shop."

Mr Collins said the focus this year was on the backyard, and there were hundreds of plants and plenty of outdoor furniture, water features and pools on display.

There will be free parking for Home Show visitors.

? When: Today, tomorrow and Sunday ? Where: Newcastle Entertainment Centre ? Open: 9am-5pm daily ? Entry: Adults $12, concession $8.50, under-16 years free
